Challenge Baseball – Ages 9 - 14

North Meck Pony Baseball, in conjunction with CLNYAA
announces Challenge Baseball starting in the Spring of 2006

Teams Comprised from:
Huntersville
Davidson
Cornelius
Mallard Creek

Teams will be formed in the 9, 10, 11-12, 13 & 14 year old PONY divisions.

The Challenge League will be comprised of players who are also active participants of recreational teams competing in NMPL’s recreational league. Each Member Organization shall be responsible for the selection of players and coaches to participate in the Challenge League as long as the players meet the eligibility requirements as described in section 5 herein.

The Challenge League is designed to operate without interference to the recreational league. During the recreational season, the Challenge League will operate on Sunday afternoons and certain weekends where the recreational league has not historically operated (for example CMS Spring Break). When the recreational season has concluded, then the Challenge League shall assume a more active schedule of two games per week with limited weekend activity. After the recreational season has concluded, Challenge Teams are free to enter non-NMPL or PONY® affiliated weekend tournaments (like USSSA). After the Challenge League concludes, Challenge teams are free to enter non-NMPL or PONY® affiliated baseball tournaments for as long as it desires.

The Challenge League is not to be confused with the NMPL PONY® Baseball All Star Teams (NMPL All Star Team). The Member Organizations have agreed to form NMPL All Star Teams. As dictated in the NMPL Bylaws, players will be selected to participate on NMPL All Star Teams. Upon acceptances, an “All Star” player who is also a member of a Challenge Team will be relieved of their Challenge Team obligation in order to be a full time participant on the NMPL All Star team. The NMPL Board of Directors may insert NMPL All Star Team into the Challenge League to gain experience and prepare for the PONY® Baseball Tournaments. However the “NMPL All Star” team will be ineligible to vie for the Challenge League Championship.

The purpose of these bylaws is to establish rules and align the philosophy of member organizations and representative teams that will participate in the Challenge League.
